Focus on IS – Obama tells Russia, Turkey
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President Obama want to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, although he was elected and is still popular in Syria.
Speaking on the sidelines of the climate change summit in Paris on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that Moscow had grounds to suspect that Turkey shot down the Russian Su-24 warplane on November 24 to secure illegal oil deliveries from Syria to Turkey, according to The Independent. “We all have a common enemy, and that is ISIL, and I want to make sure that we focus on that threat”, Mr Obama said.
“The fact that Turkey shot down a Russian fighter jet, killing the pilots cruelly, showed that the Erdogan government is irritated and impatient at having its secrets revealed”. Belgium received the award because of the lack of agreement among different regions of the country.
Putin said on Monday that Russia had obtained more information supporting the claim that ISIL oil is exported via Turkey and that Turkey’s downing of a Russian plane was motivated by a desire to defend the oil supply.
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Tuesday accused Russian Federation of trying to “cover up” its infringement of Turkey’s airspace with “unfounded” claims that Turkey is illegally importing oil from ISIS. He also praised Turkey for generously accepting refugees fleeing violence in Syria, and credited Turkey with strengthening security along its border.
“It is causing harm to both sides”, said President Erdogan. “We don’t want to get hurt and we don’t want no one to get hurt”, Erdogan said.
Turkey is a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally of the US and a member of the American-led coalition fighting ISIS, and the incident could give Russian Federation greater pause about cooperating with anti-ISIS force.
Turkey said it downed the Russian jet after its crew ignored 10 warnings to leave Turkish airspace.
“We have chose to address the need to support Turkey before the incident last week”, he said. A Russian marine was killed during the rescue operation in north-western Syria.
Barq also noted her organization’s support for a safe zone along the Syrian-Turkish border “to protect civilians and refugees from the terror of ISIS [Daesh], the merciless bombardments of Russian warplanes, and the continued brutal attacks of the Assad regime”.
Mr Erdogan and Mr Obama are among 150 leaders attending climate talks.
But, he added, if the allegations are untrue, then Putin should resign.
The ministers described the situation along Turkey’s borders with Syria and Iraq as “highly unstable” and say they “remain determined…to continue to develop additional North Atlantic Treaty Organisation assurance measures and allies are working to prepare other possible contributions”.
