Football legend Pelé leaves hospital after back surgery
SAO PAULO – Pele has been released from a Brazilian hospital after successfully undergoing back surgery.
But a medical report from the hospital confirmed that he is progressing with his post-operative recovery, “within the expected normality”.
The Brazil legend was admitted to the Albert Einstein Hospital for the third time in less than a year last week.
The hospital says Pelé was hospitalized on Monday and had the surgery on Tuesday.
“(We) inform that Edson Arantes do Nascimento was discharged today.
Last November he was hospitalized with a urinary infection after having kidney stones removed.
The hospital earlier said that Pele had undergone surgery for nerve root decompression in his back on July 14 and that he was recovering satisfactorily.
In May, he had surgery for a prostate condition.
