For most, summer league is a basketball job fair
The action is far from over, though, as a tournament-style schedule begins Wednesday and runs through the championship game on Monday.
Another thing that the National Basteball Association is experimenting with during its summer leagues is the inclusion of advance timeouts.
With 24 teams participating in the Las Vegas Summer League, there was a huge pool of players to choose from.
Although the pace of the average Summer League is roughly two thousand times faster than any National Basteball Association game (that’s a precise scientific calculation, by the way) the fact that Anderson was flawless from the field and managed 17 points in just 20 minutes is still significant.
KT Harrell didn’t have his shooting touch Sunday night. He leads the team in assists per game and is third in steals.
Sixteen teams will say goodbye to Las Vegas and start planning for training camp.
Drew has thrived with the Pelicans’ offense. “I think that’s what it was”. While it’s possible he may not earn that invite with the Pelicans (as they’re heavy on point guards), he should draw some interest from teams following his 16-assist performance. But, it’s also a possibility, and a few of the candidates impressed in Houston’s 111-104 win.
McConnell is hoping to make an National Basteball Association regular-season roster. The 6-foot-6 forward missed both of his three-point attempts and still didn’t show much of a perimeter game, but Dawson’s energy and athleticism made him effective.
What’s there not to like about a 7 foot (7’4 wingspan), mobile center who has range out to the three point line? Daniels did just that, averaging 13.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 13-of-20 from three-point range. With averages of 18.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.6 steals, 1.1 blocks, and clutch free throw shooting at 82 %, Anderson has solidified himself as a valuable piece to an already stacked San Antonio Spurs roster.
Deseret News sports writer Jody Genessy also called into chat with the KSL Sports crew from Las Vegas about the Jazz’s summer league prospects, as well as the locals in the Southern Nevada summer basketball capital.
Ronald Roberts has quietly put together a solid week for the Raptors. The game will be televised on National Basteball Association TV at 10:30. Any real opportunity that comes his way, he’s taking.
The other two guys who looked like National Basteball Association players were Glen Rice Jr. and Christian Wood. He’s coming off of a season in which he averaged 30.4 points per game in China and 16.3 points per game in the D-League. While he was able to score at a high rate, he was also extremely efficient, shooting 50.8% from the field and 9-of-20 from deep.
He knows he’s a longshot to get return; his last National Basteball Association appearance was in January 2014.
Rudd has responded after going undrafted in this year’s draft with a solid showing in Vegas. He finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds.
Powell was traded to the Mavericks earlier this year in the Rajon Rondo deal after spending some time with the Boston Celtics. While each of them have a long ways to go before a true successful National Basteball Association career, they have stood out as players that can play vital roles for their respective teams for this year and the future. They all had the benefit of playing in Las Vegas, where there are representatives from every team there scouting games looking for their next under-the-radar guy.
