For Walmart, Cyber Monday Is Starting A Lot Earlier This Year
Wal-Mart is moving “Cyber Monday” to Sunday because people now have fast Internet in their homes, the USA retailer said Monday.
Discount-store operator Target Corp. The latest release from the retailer suggests that the deepest discounts will be felt on Cyber Monday, but the deals are going to continue all throughout Cyber Week – which is a sign of the changing times.
“By starting “Cyber Monday” hours earlier on Sunday evening and quadrupling the number of Cyber Monday specials, we’re making it easier for customers to get ahead of the busiest online shopping day of the year and save on the best gifts”. To kick things off, Target announced that they would be offering 15% off sitewide with Promo Code “CYBER15”, which shows how important this weekend is going to be for retailers. Almost 75% of these items will have greater than 50% discount for a single day only.
Many of these will be unveiled on November 29, but Target’s teasing one of note thus far: You can pick up the 500 GB Gears of War Xbox One bundle for the standard holiday pricing of $299.99.
Other digital deals on Cyber Monday include half off a selection of children’s digital cameras and Sennheiser earbuds, and $100 off a Swagway Hoverboard.
Shoppers will also have access to 50% off select Kitchen items, as well as 30% off select Dyson products. In addition, when spending $250 on the baby department, consumers will get a $50 Target Giftcard.
In fact, the Monday after Thanksgiving generated almost $2.04 billion in online sales last year, up 17 percent from the previous year according to research firm comScore Inc.
There will be 30 percent off on apparel, shoes and accessories for women, men and kids and hundreds of specialty and plush toys. Since Cyber Week ends on December 5, shoppers can stack their savings for a couple more days.
