Forbes Names The Year’s Highest-Paid Actresses In The World

When everything was counted, the 18 highest paid actresses of 2015 managed to earn a combined total of $281 million before taxes and fees.

Jennifer Lawrence has starred in several movies since a year ago, ranging from “The Hunger Games” trilogy, “X-Men” franchise, “Serena”, “Joy“, and the 2012 controversial film “Silver Linings Playbook“, reported Vanity Fair. This year’s highest paid actor, Robert Downey Jr., made a whopping million, as per Forbes. Lawrence still has the final Hunger Games film, X-Men: Apocalypse, and the sci-fi drama Passengers coming up, so she’ll remain a major player for some time. The 25-year-old actress has also amassed a huge some of cash after her lucrative deal with Dior. He earned $13 million. Not only did Mrs. Theroux make the top five with $16.5 million, she outpaced Angelina Jolie (No. 7 with $15 million). Reprising her role as the Black Widow in Avengers: Age of Ultron this year, as well as starring in her first solo action hero role in Lucy, Johanssson commands over US$10 million a movie, on top of endorsements. Her earnings topped those of last year’s top-paid actress, Sandra Bullock, who collected $51 million.

Chinese star Fan Bingbing came in fourth, and Jennifer Aniston took fifth place. He topped Forbes list earlier in August of the highest paid male actors. The list has shown only four actresses to have surpassed the $20 million mark, adding controversy to the issue of pay gap among actors and actresses. Now that Lawrence is raking in the same top-dollar figure as male stars (thanks to the Sony Leaks pay discrepancy debacle) it will be interesting to see what Katniss Everdean banks next year.

Forbes wrote an article comparing the two lists and noticed the disparities: The list of women made a combined 1 million, while the men pulled in 1 million. “The problem is the averaged don’t work because there are not enough parts for women to star in for them to get paid”.
