Forbes ranks U.Va. nation’s second best public university

In connection with its rankings, Forbes published a blogpost on July 30 focusing on the impact of social media in choosing a college.
Published today, the annual Forbes college rankings puts UF in 83rd place, right after the University of Texas at Austin.
Choosing a college involves many factors, and the latest rankings by two publications can help. Other lists specialize, sometimes limiting comparisons only to specific programs, such as business or theatre.
At the number 16 spot, Clark is behind New York University and ahead of Harvard and Boston University. Massachusetts Institute of Technology, founded in 1861, is traditionally known for its research and education in the physical sciences and engineering, and more recently in biology, economics, linguistics, and management as well. In overall return on investment for graduates, Louisiana Tech ranked No. 1 in the state and No. 13 in the nation, as indicated by PayScale.com’s 2015 College ROI Report. The release accompanying the list noted that the highest ratio among institutions ranked in the top ten was 11 students to each faculty member.
College rankings always mean something, but not necessarily what you think they mean. Valpo has also been recognized as ranking second among Midwestern regional universities in 2014, consistently appearing near the top of the U.S. News Best Value and Best Undergraduate Teaching lists. Good data at that level of detail may not exist.
