Force Awakens Invades Jimmy Kimmel Live!
On the November 23 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jimmy welcomed J.J. Abrams and the Cast of Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens (Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Carrie Fisher).
He started the show by performing his opening monologue in front of a galaxy of stars, during which he joked, “Americans know more about Star Wars than we do actual wars”.
Abrams was quick to shoot down Kimmel’s comment that Star Wars fans were more aggressive that Trek fans, admitting there are more of them (including himself). If you ask any die hard fan, they would have to agree with that. “I can’t tell you the relief I feel”.
All we’ve seen and heard so far indicates that the latter is more likely for The Force Awakens, and hopefully that notion will be validated when it opens in cinemas next month. “J spoiled it, he assumed that I had told her everything but I didn’t tell her”.
They decided they didn’t want to use those stories, they decided they were going to do their own thing, so I decided fine,”Lucas said”.
“This is an absolute honor”, said Boyega of presenting the nominations. Well, in the case of the Star Wars franchise, this is actually a rather big deal.
The cast then talked a little bit around the audition process, including that fact they they had to memorize lines because they couldn’t take the script.
After the interviews, Kimmel brought in Arden Hayes, a seven-year-old “Star Wars” expert, to compete with the cast in a game segment he called “Ard-Wars”. New “Star Wars” toys and other merchandise were released in stores around the world just after midnight local time during a global rollout of the popular products.
