Ford Introduces All-new 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty
Kentucky Truck has a new body shop that is almost complete and will make it easier to ramp up the new truck when production starts in the fall of 2016 as the outgoing model is phased out. A feature that’s become common on luxury cars, this is the first time it’s been available on a heavy-duty truck.
Available in regular cab, super cab, and crew cab configurations, look for the 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty to offer the same hierarchy of F-250, F-350, and F-450 versions with increasing levels of capability. Despite this, Ford was able to make it more aerodynamic. It all sounds pretty impressive.
It still comes in five trims: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. Even the F-series 2017 pickup has been introduced in an all-aluminium body by Ford. Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of the Americas, said in a statement that it achieves “new benchmarks in capability, performance and efficiency”.

For the first time the truck has adaptive steering that requires less effort to steer at low speeds. A 6.8-liter gasoline V-10 will still be available on chassis cab models. The next-gen Super Duty’s front end gets evolutionary updates such as a wide grille with two large slats that stretch into a pair of vertical headlights. Power options include a 6.7L Power Stroke V8 diesel, 6.8L V10 gas engine, and a 6.2L V8 gas engine.
Though rival General Motors has tried to portray aluminum as flimsy and expensive to set up, Ford says F-150 customers have reacted positively to the change.
“Our team is using relentless innovation in materials, technology and Built Ford Tough engineering to deliver customers our best Super Duty yet”. So how about a military-grade, dent-resistant, corrosion-free, lightweight aluminum alloy body, which together with the high-strength steel reduces weight by up to 350 pounds (159kg). Some of those features include all-new advanced coaching and camera technology, LED lighting and adaptive cruise control. It would stand to reason that if the F-150 is in the 700-pound range, that the Super Duty must be 800 or 900 pounds right? “I mean, most of those guys use their trucks for actual, you know, work“. As always though, Ford was keeping these folks in mind and thereby created the F-Series Super Duty. We’ve never seen the F-Series use this type of treatment, and being on a black background doesn’t allow the color of the vehicle to come through the logo as it does on the F-150. Nor did it specify by how much towing capacity had increased over its current high of 31,200 lbs.; in recent years the Detroit automakers have played games over such numbers, tweaking engine figures until the last possible minute to win the title of toughest tow rig. I downloaded and went through all the fact sheets and there’s no official number for now.
