Ford Motor Company Named One of Interbrand’s 2015 “Best Global Brands”
Interbrands ranks Apple, valued at US$170.3 billion, as the most valuable brand in the world.
Tech businesses dominate Interbrand’s latest Best Global Brands report with Apple taking the number one spot and Google, Microsoft and Samsung also featuring the in the top ten. The second place competitor, Google, sits just $50 million shy from breaking Apple’s three-year streak at an estimated value of $120 billion.
As data and technology continue to reshape advertising, the creative side of the business has been trying to keep pace.
The previous year, Amazon held the 15 position in the Interbrand report.
“All the brands in the top are there for a very good reason”, Frampton said.
Every year since 2001, Interbrand has released a list of the top 100 brands in the world.
The highest ranked UK-based company was HSBC which was ranked 37th with a total value of $11.6bn, a drop of 11%.
Half of Twitter users questioned as part of the latest Global Web Index (GWI) study said that they followed brands in their feed and for Pinterest and Tumblr it’s 48%.
Interbrand looked into the companies’ financial performances and how their brands contributed to profit and are expected to do so.
Jonathan Redman, senior director at Interbrand in San Francisco, told Quartz that tech companies are benefiting from being able to go to market quickly with new value-driven services that consumers never even knew they needed.
Coca-Cola, Microsoft and IBM rounded out the top five. Its ranking reflects sentiment after the scandal. Finnish telecom equipment major Nokia however, finds itself outside the top 100 for the first time in a long time, as does Japanese video games and consumer electronics company Nintendo, whose gaming consoles have seen their fortunes dip considerably since their heydays.
Other new entrants include Lego (No. 82), PayPal (No. 97), MINI (No. 98) and Moët & Chandon (No. 99).
