Ford recalls more than 88000 vehicles due to stalling problem
Ford Motor Co F.N said on Wednesday it was recalling about 91,000 vehicles in North America to replace faulty fuel-pump parts that could potentially cause a auto to stall without warning. The recall affects certain Ford Flex, Taurus, and Police Interceptor sedans, as well as Lincoln MKS and MKT vehicles, from the 2013-2015 model years.
No injuries have been associated with this issue, Ford said.
The Fix: Ford will notify customers to bring in their vehicles for repairs starting October 17.
Fuel pump problems at the center of two of the actions.
Owners should: Ford owners who wish to know if their Ford Transit is included in the fuel-injection pump safety recall should visit http://owner.ford.com and click on Safety Recalls at the bottom of the page. Ford is aware of no accidents or injuries relating to this issue. The pumps are susceptible stalling or failing to start. When the pump malfunctions, the engine will fail to start or stall suddenly, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect the fuel system for metallic contamination. If a vehicle is in motion when the module fails, there will be no way to restart the vehicle, which could dramatically increase the risk of a crash.
The affected vehicles were built at the Louisville Assembly Plant, Oct. 5, 2015 to May 12, 2016, the company noted.
Dealers will inspect the parts for metallic contamination and replace the parts if needed at no cost.
Ford is issuing a safety compliance recall for approximately 23,000 2017 Ford Escape vehicles to update power window software.
