Ford’s Romeo Engine Plant evacuated
Ford’s Romeo Engine Plant in Romeo, Michigan was evacuated Thursday morning following a bomb threat, The Detroit News reports.
Afternoon-shift workers should come in unless the company notifies them otherwise, Ford spokesman Mike Moran said, according to the Detroit News.
According to published reports, the incident occurred about 7:30 a.m. Ford officials told WWJ Newsradio 950 employees were sent home.
The situation unfolded around 7:20 a.m. Thursday at the plant, located off of 32 Mile Road and Van Dyke Freeway. “The day shift was sent home”, he said. Deputies were sent to the scene with bomb-sniffing dogs.
About 1,074 employees work at the plant, which produces engines for the F-150 and Mustang, among other vehicles.
At this time, Moran said that there hadn’t yet been an update from law enforcement whether anything had been found in their search.
A Romeo police dispatcher refused to comment on the matter.
