Ford to unveil F-150 Raptor SuperCrew
Today, Ford fills in some of those blanks, but not all – showing off the production Raptor with a new four-door version and a boost in power.
DETROIT-(satPRnews.com)-Eagerly anticipated and still unmatched by any auto manufacturer, Ford – America’s truck leader – introduces the all-new F-150 Raptor SuperCrew, adding agility, versatility and roominess to the toughest, smartest, most capable F-150 Raptor ever.
The all-new F-150 Raptor also boasts its first-ever dual exhaust and new 17-inch wheels with next-generation BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires designed for off-road performance.
Under the hood can be found the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that will come soon with more than 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque.
Besides the aforementioned changes, the truck has an off-road focused suspension with FOX Racing Shox. Speaking about rough terrain credentials, the F-150 Raptor also packs a new Terrain Management System with the Normal, Street, Weather, Mud and Sand, Baja or Rock modes to cover all possible scenarios.
Drive is routed to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission and an all-new four-wheel-drive system with a torque-on-demand transfer case that manages torque distribution between the axles. In addition, the Raptor features an all-new four-wheel-drive, torque-on-demand transfer case with advanced, easy-to-use off-road driver-assist technology.
Discussing the vehicle, Ford Performance global director Dave Pericak said “F-150 Raptor means superior off-road capability, from rock crawling to sand running”.
The Raptor, which is built at the Dearborn Truck Plant alongside the F-150, will go on sale in the USA and Canada this fall. Ford says the truck will be available for media drives late in the third quarter of this year, with dealerships getting the new model soon after that. The front and rear shock canisters are larger than the outgoing Raptor’s and suspension travel has been increased, but the exact amount has not been disclosed.
