FORECAST: Scattered storms on steamy Fourth of July
Scattered showers & storms will move into our northwestern counties this evening but should be out of here by morning. For the afternoon and evening hours we can expect a few pop-up showers and storms.
Storms will likely be relatively short lives and will not linger all day.
Heat…it’s the 4th of July, and we are in Alabama, so we know it is going to be hot.
Showers look to redevelop during the afternoon hours, after 2 p.m. Some storms will be strong to severe, with strong winds, small hail and frequent lightning. I think most of the fireworks displays will be fine. Low temperatures will be in the mid 70s. Once again we could see afternoon storms, but they won’t be everywhere.
The morning begins with a few thundershowers over the Gulf.
If you are a fan of the high humidity and steamy temperatures, you’ll love the middle and end of this week with highs in the low-mid 90’s. Lows will drop to around 73 overnight in the Upstate and 67 in the mountains. Then, for the latter part of the work week into next weekend, our rain chances will go down, but the heat is cranking up. High temperatures are expected in the mid-to-upper 90s in Greeley. Temperatures will build into the mid-90s through the week, with a heat index closer to 100 degrees.
Wednesday: Partly Cloudy. Scattered Showers/Storms Possible (30%).
