Forget Pedro! Chelsea should move for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, talkSPORT told
Chelsea are set to beat the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool to the signing of Barcelona forward Pedro.
Chelsea have been monitoring his situation and were thought to be leading the race, but now Sport claim that Premier League rivals Liverpool could look to use some of the £49m they received for Raheem Sterling on the speedster.
Pedro, who recently signed an extension on his contract until the summer of 2019 with a release clause of €150m, has acknowledged that his buy-out price has been reduced to €30m.
On Monday, the player confirmed that there have been offers made by other clubs wish to secure his services.
“It’s true that between both sides, we chose to lower my release clause and there are offers”.
It is reported that Pedro will delay a decision on his Barcelona future until after the club’s presidential elections.
Speaking at his first press conference, after a well-deserved break, the treble-winning coach insists that he would like to keep all his players, but will not make promises that he may not be able to live up to.
Jose Mourinho has been pretty quiet in the transfer market so far with just Asmir Begovic coming in to replace Petr Cech while Radamel Falcao has arrived on loan, so I’d expect the Portuguese coach to bring in a few more players and it appears Pedro could be next through the door.
“I have known Pedro for some time and I don’t sell promises”.
Pedro is predominantly played as a right-winger but is also capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions, including as a central striker, so he’d give Mourinho plenty of options in the final third.
