Form Arsenal ace Walcott to relish England responsibility
With England already through, Rooney may not be risked and so Kane should start, although Theo Walcott is another option.
It’s been a flawless qualification campaign for England thus far and the bookmakers aren’t offering a big price on Roy Hodgson’s side making it nine straight wins at Wembley on Friday. I’m always there for him as I obviously was in the England squad at the early age of 17.
“I think crowning it all would be winning the tournament but these are two games we’re going to look to win, like we’ve looked to win all the games so far”, said the Manchester City and England keeper.
Hart said: “Our ultimate aim is to go to next year’s tournament and win it, but talk is cheap, as we’ve proven in every tournament I’ve been to. We feel good as a squad”.
“I don’t think we put much expectations on ourselves”. Hopefully we can get 10 from 10, which no other European country has done.
“We were disappointed a couple of summers ago but life goes on. All eyes were on us after the World Cup but we have reacted well and managed to turn things around in a short time as well”.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player is clearly excited about England’s young Lions. We had a two-year plan after that.
Hart will no doubt have a key role in that as one of just three squad members to have broken the 50-cap barrier, with captain Wayne Rooney the only player to have reached a century.
England captain Rooney was forced to sit out training on Wednesday after picking up a knock in Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal last weekend. I’d be happy to play anywhere for England.
“If that would give us a better chance then that is something I would be open to”.
“But with the two teams I play for, you have to sometimes play through pain, otherwise there’s someone very talented trying to take your place”.
“I love playing at Wembley Stadium but I love the Premier League and the different grounds and all the atmospheres they offer”.
