Former Aggies QB Murray transfers to Oklahoma
Murray has transferred to the Oklahoma football program.
Murray was one of the premier quarterback recruits in the country in 2015, a consensus five-star from Allen. It was right around this time a year ago where speculation ran rampant about the possibility of Murray switching to the Sooners despite OU’s shaky 8-5 season.
Coincidentally, there are reports linking quarterback Trevor Knight, who is leaving OU, to Texas A&M.
Stoops and his Sooner program have come a million miles in the past year. He finished the season 72-of-121 for 686 yards and five touchdowns to seven interceptions. He completed 20 of 28 pass attempts against the Gamecocks for 223 yards and a touchdown while adding 156 rushing yards and a TD on 20 carries in a 35-28 win.
Murray was the Gatorade National Player of the Year in 2014. Murray’s decision to leave anyway became official the next day. The freshman announced he was transferring out of Texas A&M earlier this month and it did not take long for him to make a decision on his new destination.
Knight has been granted his release to play at another school next season.
With Murray arriving on campus this semester, the OU quarterback room has gotten full in a hurry.
Along with Lake Travis’ Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma will have a loaded depth chart of quarterback talent.
For Oklahoma, it’s another potential transfer steal, with Murray’s choice continuing what has been an excellent 2015 for the program after last season’s lackluster results. Both Kendall and Robison are pro-style quarterbacks, where Murray is a dual threat.
