Former Blackburn Rovers coach Eric Black named interim boss at Rotherham United
Following his departure, the Evans spoke BBC Radio Sheffield: “The chairman and I had our normal meeting yesterday morning and the decision was made after we decided we were heading in different directions”.
Both Neil Redfearn and Stuart Gray have been linked with the vacant role over the last 24-hours and it remains to be seen which avenue the club will go down.
Evans parted company with Rotherham with the club sitting in 20th in the Championship table.
In a statement released by the club it reads ‘During the said meeting it became clear that both parties wished to head in a different direction’.
However, less than 48 hours after a 2-0 success at Birmingham, Evans’ time in charge of the Millers was over after a showdown meeting with chairman Tony Stewart on Monday.
Meanwhile, Evans has addressed thanks to the Millers faithful for their support over the course of three-and-a-half largely magical years since being appointed in April 2012.
ERIC Black will take charge of the Millers for Saturday’s TV trial against Burnley on Friday – unless the Millers move quickly to replace Steve Evans and Paul Raynor.
“Moving on, Eric Black will assume first team duties for the time being”. It was clear that the chairman and the management team only wanted what they felt was best for Rotherham United.
I came here when they were in obscurity in League Two and leave them in the Championship and the last two games the team has performed fantastically.
However, Evans has chose to walk away from his project at the New York Stadium, with assistant manager Paul Raynor following him out the door.
