Former Bruins star Ray Bourque “in unfamiliar territory”
Bourque, 55, of Boxboro, is charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and following too closely.
No injuries were reported in the collision.
Bourque, 55, of Boxford, was arrested Friday night in Andover after his auto struck a minivan on Route 133 at about 11:30 p.m. The officer said a minivan had been rear-ended by a Mercedes SUV while going through a construction zone and Bourque was behind the wheel. No one was hurt.
Bourque, who has been a consultant to the Bruins coaching staff since 2005 and remains involved in the team’s charities, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Lawrence District Court. That level is more than three times the legal limit of.08.
Bourque allegedly told police after he was arrested that he had “had a few drinks at the Andover Country Club”.
Ray Bourque ‘s statement released Sunday night to address his arrest for OUI falls short of a full-on apology. He asked to hold the arraignment right away, a spokesperson said. “I am not happy about the situation I put myself into on Friday Night”, Bourque said in the statement, which was released by his former teammate and charitable partner Cleon Daskalakis.
