Former Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat booked under rape charges
Especially, if any public representative is involved then he should be more strictly punished, ‘ Congress leader Sobha Oza told ANI.
Delhi Police has filed a case against Uttarakhand BJP leader Harak Singh Rawat after a woman accused him of raping her at his south Delhi residence.
On March 26, Rawat and the other Congress “rebels” released a sting operation video in New Delhi, which showed the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat allegedly indulging in “horse-trading”.
The woman has alleged that the former minister raped her at his Green Park residence, said a senior police officer.
Rawat, however, was given a clean chit in the 2003 case by the CBI. Sources close to Mr Rawat had claimed that the case was politically motivated. The police is now investigating the matter. “Let law take its course but we feel the fresh case was filed to frame him”. But the possibility of a conspiracy behind this can not be ruled out.
Delhi Police was also criticised for allegedly carrying our vendetta against the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs at the “behest” of the BJP government at the Centre.
