Former El Salvador soccer player shot to death
Former El Salvador national footballer Alfredo Pacheco has been found murdered, the Salvadoran attorney general’s office has said.
Pacheco was chatting with a group of friends when an unknown assailant shot at the group several times, authorities said.
Two friends who were travelling with Pacheco were hurt in the attack, which took place in Santa Ana, 66km west of the capital San Salvador.

‘The attorney general’s office in Santa Ana processed the crime scene of the murder of Alfredo Pacheco at 3.30am in a petrol station, ‘ it said.
El Salvador has been plagued by gang violence in recent years with the national watchdog IML having reported more than 6,000 murders between January and November of this year.
Salvadoran football is in mourning following the shooting of defender Alfredo Pacheco.
Earlier this month, Honduras national team soccer player Arnold Peralta was shot to death while on vacation in his home country, which was ranked as having the world’s highest murder rate by a United Nations report a year ago.
He also made a short loan spell with MLS franchise New York Red Bulls where he featured in 14 games for the club in 2009.
Police did not provide a motive for his killing.
