American Renewal Project founder David Lane says he’s pulling for a veteran American politician to be Donald Trump’s Republican running mate in the 2016 presidential election.
Along with his rally in Sharonville, Trump is scheduled to attend his first OH fundraiser, a $25,000-per-person roundtable discussion with donors.
Cleveland.com reporter Jeremy Pelzer is covering the event. Pence’s spokesman said the pair had a “warm” meeting Saturday, but said “nothing was offered” when asked if Trump discussed the possibility of Pence becoming his running mate. A number of senators – including Jeff Sessions (Ala.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.) – are also being reviewed as viable picks, although the extent to which they are being vetted is unclear.
Donald Trump will be in Sharonville for an evening rally, and the man he’s appearing with is leading to more running mate speculation. The billionaire today said there are about 10 names on his list, including two generals.
“Always, you have to say, ‘Will that person be a good president?'” Trump said.
In a Bloomberg Politics national poll last month, nearly a third of likely voters supporting Trump thought Gingrich would be his best pick.
“Everybody else talks about how they would like to change Washington a little bit”, Gingrich told the crowd.
Trump also touched on the scandal surrounding a Tweet that his social media director shared that featured a six-pointed star that some interpreted as a Star of David, prompting accusations of anti-Semitism.

The two have also been friends more than a decade, giving Christie the upper-hand if Trump decides to go with the candidate he feels he knows best.

Also helping Sessions’s case as Trump’s vice president is that Gov. Robert Bentley, a Republican, would pick his successor in the senate if he’s selected, meaning the seat would continue to be Republican.
Brig. Gen. Gary Pendleton, a member of the North Carolina House, told Bloomberg he hopes Trump recruits ex-presidential rival Marco Rubio “because he’s Hispanic and he’s from the south”.
“I made that very clear to him that I’m focused on Iowa. I have to believe he’s been doing this all along”.
