Former Italy keeper invited to train with Chelsea
Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has provided fans with an update on his injury after posting an image of himself on social media.
Courtois tore his meniscus during training with Belgium for their Euro 2016 qualifiers and he went under the knife in Spain earlier this month.
He has also been at Livorno, Palermo and Genoa, but has barely played since leaving AC Milan in 2014.
Chelsea are allowed to sign a free agent outside of the transfer window with only 19 of their players aged over 21 in their 25-man Premier League squad.
Mourinho confirmed he is hoping to sign a keeper when asked about a possible move for Porto veteran Helton – who has been displaced by Iker Casillas as No 1 at tonight’s Chsmpions League opponents.
“We need a goalkeeper now, not in January”, said Mourinho.
Chelsea are set to snap up experienced free agent Marco Amelia in an attempt to address their goalkeeping concerns, according to reports from The Mirror.
Should the Bosnian suffer a fitness blow of receive a suspension, then the 21-year-old back-up man will be in line to start for the defending champions, which is seen as a cause for concern in West London.
