Former ‘James Bond’ star not impressed with ‘Spectre’
“I think you’re a sexist, misogynist dinosaur, a relic of the Cold War”, she tells him.
The film starts off in Mexico, during Day of the Dead celebrations. “Am in a Bond movie?”
“I think the world needs James Bond”, he reasoned.
Spectre is now playing at theaters worldwide now. Even so, it is still on track to be the second highest grossing Bond film ever, and should still bring in an audience this weekend despite facing The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 starting on November 20. Bond travels the globe trying to unravel the truth behind this mysterious organization and expose its mysterious leader, who may know more about Bond than he thinks.
Shoot outs, vehicle chases, and plane crashes – “Spectre” has every quality of a great James Bond movie with a few extra bonuses.
Craig, co-star Lea Seydoux and producer Barbara Broccoli came to China prior to the film’s release for a publicity tour, including a premiere attended by 600 people. The outstanding cast are joined by long term Bond producer and one of the most successful female producers, Barbara Brocolli along with fellow long term Bond producer Michael G. Wilson and a number of co-producers, assistant producers and executive producers including Daniel Craig. The intrigue of the story lies in the moments that follow Craig through several different countries, as it is here the bulk of the story and the most intense action scenes occur.
However, MI6 faces their own bureaucratic difficulties in the form of Max Denbigh (Andrew Scott), who Bond quickly labels as C. C aims to end the 00 program, replacing the agents with drones.
Plus, despite the scathing feedback, it seems that Brosnan still believes in Daniel Craig’s version of Bond and his criticism does not seem to be directed at his actual performance.
Starting with 2006’s Casino Royale, the Bond franchise turned away from camp and cheekiness to deliver a hard-edged Bond that was more in line with Ian Fleming’s original books.
It is unclear whether Craig will continue as Bond. Finally, this will be Mendes’ last time directing a Bond film, so it would be natural for Craig to leave with him.
