Former modeling agent says he got Melania Trump’s visa
Trump, now a USA citizen, has been outspoken about her adherence to immigration laws and has described how she returned to her native Slovenia to get her visa stamped. “You follow the rules”, she said at the time.
Another inconsistency can be seen with regards to the year she arrived in the country; whereas she said she came to NY in 1996, her photo shoot and a biography published by Slovenian journalists in February suggests she arrived in 1995. According to Bloomberg View, holders are generally admitted to the US for a three-year duration, which means Melania wouldn’t have needed to travel in and out of the country every few months.
There is now a great deal of discussion over whether or not Melania Trump might have broken immigration laws by working in the United States without the proper visa back in the ’90s.
The New York Post was criticized earlier this week for publishing nude photos of Melania Trump, the wife of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, that were taken back in the mid 1990s during her modeling career.
It has been widely reported that [Melania Trump] came here on an H-1B work visa.
People who hold visitor visas would be required to leave the country on or before the end date of their authorized stay.
“Nobody knows it better than me” Trump, told Politico: “Melania followed all applicable laws and is now a proud citizen of the United States”. “How ironic would it be if Mr. Trump, who has largely based his presidential run on his ridiculously extreme proposals related to illegal immigration, had actually married an illegal immigrant”, Cooper continued.
Her reference to 1996 is notable because it implies she first came to the USA that year. “I applied for the citizenship later on”.
However, Mrs Trump has since downplayed the allegations, reiterating she was “at all times in compliance with the immigration laws of this country”.
Although Melania Trump has claimed the confusion surrounding her immigration status is due to “inaccurate reporting and misinformation”, the fact that the business mogul’s followers are OK with it says a lot about their double standards.
But the timing of her early photo shoots and her own accounts of her travels have created questions about when she first entered the US and whether she was legally permitted to work during her earliest days here.
In her Twitter message, Ms Trump added that any suggestion that she had acted illegally was “simply untrue”. Trump has stated multiple times that she had an H-1B visa while living in NY. With this kind of visa, Melania wouldn’t have had to return to Slovenia for updated stamps.
