Former New York mayor calls Donald Trump’s claims exaggerated
“I would love to do that”.
Trump predicted he’d win the White House in 2016 by capturing 25 percent of the black vote.
“This meeting was awesome”.
“‘I don’t know what I said, I don’t remember.'” Trump says in an exaggerated voice, as if mimicking someone else. “It didn’t go longer for other reasons”. Trump’s threat came amid a rant about CNN’s coverage of his campaign, which he says has been unfair and doesn’t fully capture the strength of the political movement he has sparked. We made a lot of progress.
Monday’s meeting was at the source of much controversy – and confusion.
Dr. Stephen A. Parson Sr., a pastor for Richmond Christian Center, was one of more than 100 black pastors who attended the private meeting with Trump.
The alleged endorsements provoked the ire of black leaders across America.
“He’s an unbelievable divider”, Trump continued. “Whether it is [an endorsement event] or not, that’s fine”, Trump said.
There’s a reason those black ministers aren’t endorsing him, says pastor E.W. Jackson, who leads conservative group S.T.A.N.D. Couzens said serious issues were discussed, including black unemployment, racial unrest in places like Baltimore and Ferguson, Mo., and demands from protesters in the Black Lives Matter movement. But he continued, “I would be very hesitant to give a number”.
Mr. Trump’s actions make me sick and sad. He also expressed reservations about what he considers Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric.
“It’s not true and there’s plenty of fact-checks to prove that it isn’t”, Rubio said.
But plenty of attendees showed enthusiastic support for Trump, saying Trump has been villainized by his critics and some in the media. Adding insult to injury, Bryant took it a step further by labeling the pastors who met with Trump as prostitutes but with a slight twist. Some pastors disputed claims about plans to endorse the real estate mogul.
“I would sit down with Trump on my terms”, she said.
“Meeting with African-American Pastors at Trump Tower was fantastic”, he tweeted about 3 p.m. Monday after the meeting. “We actually didn’t think we were going to be having a press conference, but we all thought it was such a good meeting that we would do that”, Trump said.
“So, with CNN, here’s what they’ll say: ‘Trump’s chicken”.
