Former Oklahoma City Police Officer Daniel Holtzclaw Found Guilty of Rape
Holtzclaw’s attorneys wanted jurors to believe he was a vigilant, honest police officer who may have violated some department policies but didn’t commit any crimes.
But it was the DNA of the 17-year-old girl, who claims she was raped on her mother’s front porch, that was found on Daniel Holtzclaw’s trousers.
Prater also said that during official sentencing his office will work to “make sure he (Holtzclaw) never sees the light of day”.

All of the accusers were black. It was a long and hard trial and deliberation process for all involved.
They said he did this because he did not think authorities would take the victims’ word over his if he had to defend himself against sexual assault allegations. Citty fired him before trial.
Holtzclaw’s case was among those examined in an Associated Press investigation of sexual misconduct by law enforcement.
Holtzclaw’s mother, father and sister were in the courtroom as the verdict was read. Jurors acquitted him on 18 other counts.

She testified that he asked if it was the first time she had ever had sex with a cop.
The woman was tearful after the verdict and prayed with supporters outside the courtroom.
Perhaps Holtzclaw was in a jealous rage that his female rape victim had a boyfriend, but that resulted in the criminal stalking charge against him. He ran background checks and went after those who had outstanding warrants, previous arrests or carried drugs or drug paraphernalia.
The court heard from several women. Four of the counts he was found guilty on were first-degree rape. Holtzclaw ordered her upstairs to her bedroom.
Adams declined to comment after the verdict was read. Conviction on the charges comes with the possibility of a life sentence.
The 29-year-old Holtzclaw was accused of preying on women in the low-income Oklahoma City neighborhood he patrolled. The youngest accuser was 17.

Holtzclaw felt like he could exploit these women without fear of prosecution, due to their criminal status. Holtzclaw is a former police officer accused of sexually victimizing 13 women in the neighborhood he patrolled.
Oklahoma County’s top prosecutor had been optimistic that a jury will return guilty verdicts.
The jury was all-white, composed of eight men and four women. He says he’s confident the panel is working hard on a complicated case.
“Each and every one of these people have street smarts like you can’t even imagine”, he said at the start of the trial, referring to the alleged victims.
Several of Holtzclaw’s accusers had been arrested or convicted of crimes, and his attorney made those issues a cornerstone of his defense strategy. Holtzclaw faced 36 charges of rape, sexual battery, forcible oral sodomy, among others. They have now met for about 34 hours over three days.
The jury recommended Holtzclaw serve a total of 263 years.
