Former Rangers chief Charles Green questioned by police
FORMER Rangers boss Charles Green is expected to be interviewed by police tomorrow as part of their investigation into his reign at the club.
The Englishman, who previously held the chief executive’s role at Sheffield United in the late 1990s, is understood to be speaking to officers in Livingston, West Lothian on Tuesday.
Mr Green took control at Rangers after buying the club’s assets following administration and liquidation in 2012.
The 62-year-old was spotted walking into a police station early this morning.
Mr Green stepped down as CEO of the club the following year after it was alleged he had links with former owner Craig Whyte – a claim he denied.
Today speculation was mounting that Green could be arrested and detained in custody overnight.
Meanwhile, Duff and Phelps trio David Whitehouse, Paul Clark and David Grier face allegations of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The former chief executive – who retired to a chateux in Normandy after being axed by the club – was back in Britain yesterday as his racehorse named “Ibrox” finished fifth in a race at Chepstow.
