Former Texas A&M linebacker and wife shot by teenage son
Former NFL star Antonio Armstrong and his wife, Dawn, were viciously murdered by his son, AJ Anderson, on July 29, after shooting them in their own Houston home.
HollywoodLifers, our thoughts are with the Armstrong family during this disgusting time.
Friends and family expressed surprise over the tragedy on Friday. Police arrested the 16-year-old boy.
The couple had two teenage children whom the shooter left unharmed in the home, the Chron reported.
“There was nothing that even could have possibly justified this situation”. “This makes no sense”.
According to KTRK in Houston, the couple’s 16-year-old allegedly wounded his father and killed his mother, Dawn Armstrong, at their Houston-area home.
A motive for the shooting has not yet been released.
Officers found no forced entry at the home, according to the Chronicle’s report, citing Jimmy Dodson, a Houston Police Department homicide investigator. Antonio served as the assistant pastor of a Gulfton, Texas area church. He’s a great guy.
Extended family members have said there were no signs of trouble in the household before the deadly incident. Detectives found a note near the gun that said, “I’ve been watching you”.
Since retiring, Armstrong had pursued a career in motivational speaking, along with opening a fitness company called 1st Class Training with his wife. The former National Football League player was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital and listed in critical condition, but later died from a gunshot wound to the head.
R.C. Slocum, who coached Armstrong at Texas A&M, issued a statement on his death. “This is a bad tragedy and our hearts our broken”.
