Former TNA wrestler James Storm debuts with WWE NXT
Overall, Storm held the NWA or TNA tag team titles 13 times. The latest TakeOver made full use of what separates NXT from WWE proper.
Storm had been rumored to be joining the WWE since this summer when he left TNA. He faced Martin Stone is singles action and ending up winning his first NXT match on Thursday night.
The WWE reported on Thursday that another TNA Impact Wrestling star has made his way to NXT wrestling. Props to Triple H and the team behind the idea of getting Storm on board.
This immediately proves that James Storm is going to be more than a player or coach or trainer type of guy in NXT. Whether or not Storm will remain in NXT and sign a deal with the company is yet to be determined. The brand is chock-full of internationals independent wrestlers, from Canada’s Sami Zayn to Japan’s Hideo Itami and NXT champion Finn Balor or Ireland. There’s no word on terms of his contract but it’s possible he plays a similar role to Samoa Joe and Rhyno, who have been solid veteran presences at Full Sail and NXT TakeOver events.
Now it’s official: The Cowboy is in NXT. She will be facing New Zealand indie wrestler Evie, who has competed for SHINE and Shimmer. Brooke developed her signature head-pat as a way to sign off interviews with Devin, and it eventually worked its way into her matches. She is all set to make her TV debut on Wednesday when the episode airs. WWE is said to have a lot of faith and confidence in the young performer from Hawaii.
