Former Viking Randy Moss doesn’t rule out NFL return
Moss, a six-time Pro Bowler who now works as an analyst for Fox, said on the network’s pregame show Sunday night that he hasn’t lost the itch to play in the NFL, adding he’d been “working out with a few guys in the offseason”.
There are already many teams around the NFL with injury problems that could do worse than a future Hall of Famer as a third or fourth option, even if Moss’ prime is well in the rearview mirror. “That’s the love for the game I have inside of me”, he told Menefee.
Randy Moss is 38 years old and last played in the NFL during the 2012 season in which he caught only 28 passes for 434 yards and 3 touchdowns. “So we’ll simply have to attend and see”. Moss entered retirement with 982 catches, 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns. He actually managed to improve on these numbers during his seasons when he was 39 and 40-years-old.
He also counts 10 different seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards on his resume.
Watch Moss make the comments for yourself if you can’t believe it, which is understandable. Mike Reiss of ESPN questioned Moss on August 20 about the possibility.
Moss seemed downright giddy as he discussed the possibility, which suggests that he either has made a decision to come back and/or that he knows the interest may be there.
This comes on the same day that star wide receiver Jordy Nelson of the Green Packers tore his ACL in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Moss additionally was talked about final week as a attainable alternative in Carolina for injured receiver Kelvin Benjamin. He said last week he remains close with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. As usual, the Patriots do not have a star wide receiver, so Moss would fit right in.
