Former Vols guard Josh Richardson agrees to deal with Miami Heat
Josh Richardson – the 40th overall pick in the 2015 National Basketball Association Draft – has agreed to terms on a three-year, $2.5 million contract with the Miami Heat, league sources told RealGM.
According to the Miami Herald, Richardson will receive the rookie minimum of $525,093 this season, then $874,636 in the second deal of the contract, which is partially guaranteed. The 6-foot-6 guard rose on draft boards of National Basketball Association organizations in the course of the pre-draft course of with robust exercises and disposition, flying for exercises from his residence in Oklahoma City.
Miami traded Shabazz Napier to Orlando Magic and Zoran Dragic to the Celtic to reduce luxury tax levels and create free space in the roster. However, Richardson likely won’t make an impact right away in Miami’s crowded backcourt, so he can be ignored outside of deeper leagues. During his college career, he averaged 9.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.08 steals, on 28.2 minutes of play, ranking third in school history in games played.
