Fortnite update details as High Stakes is added to the game
Fortnite’s newest item is the grappler, which is something that has been expected ever since it was teased earlier this year.
Following the update, Android players will have access to VOIP, which will let you communicate with your team directly in-game. “In this mode, players will race to find a Jewel and take it to a Getaway Van before everyone else to win the match!” It won’t be easy, though, as squads will be battling with each other to get the jewel first.
The patch has also added the Grappler which will have 15 charges and will allow you to attach it to a nearby object and pull yourself towards it.
The new High Stakes update, version 5.40, is live; it makes a number of balance changes and introduces the limited-time High Stakes mode. While carrying a jewel, players will regenerate health and shields, but will be visible to all players for 30 seconds and be slowed down by 10%. It can be found as floor loot and also appears in Treasure Chests, Supply Drops and Supply Llamas. Automatic weapons are always great for these kind of challenges, since you can tag players with multiple shots and their high rate-of-fire mean you can rack up hits even in team-shoot situations. Getaways will be completed by reaching a van located on the map.
In typical Fortnite fashion, this new mode will reward players with new cosmetics once they win and complete certain objectives. It doesn’t look like you can recharge it.
Patch v5.40 will now launch on Thursday, September 6, bringing the High Stakes event, getaway LTM, grappling gun, and more with it. The tower defense Save the World mode is also getting an update with new Horde Challenges.
