Founding guitarist of 3 Doors Down Matt Roberts dies
His hotel room was adjoined with his father Darrell’s and when Matt passed away during the night, Darrell received a harrowing visit from detectives at roughly 9 a.m. this morning. The two were staying in adjoining rooms. Its always scary as a parent, they were in suits and thats when they told me.

Darrell believes the overdose, reportedly on prescription pills, was accidental.
Police said there were no signs of trauma on Roberts’s body and that the cause of death is now unknown. “3 Doors Down will always have a special place in my heart and it saddens me to take this time off”, he said at the time. Matt left the band in 2012 for health issues concerning blood circulation in his body.
The musician had been in Wisconsin for a charity event and was scheduled to perform this weekend.

They were best known for the song “Kryptonite” off the 2000 album “The Better Life“, and also featured on the American Pie 2 soundtrack with their song “Be Like That”, AXS notes.
