Four dead after small plane crashes in northern New York State
State police are asking for help from any citizens who witnessed a plane crash near Saranac Lake early Friday evening that killed four people.
The Piper PA-46 has room for a pilot and five passengers. State police have not released the name of the victims.

Robert Gretz, a senior air safety investigator with the NTSB, spoke Saturday in Lake Clear, NY. So far, investigators said they have not found anything out of the ordinary.
Brian Fisk of the Long Beach Fire Department said five of the six people who were stabbed were taken to nearby hospitals and one person was treated and released at the scene.
Investigators will meet Sunday with the plane’s manufacturer and engine manufacturer.
The crash site is half a mile or more into woods, authorities said.
State police ask anyone with information about the crash to contact 518-897-2000.
The scene was secured overnight pending arrival of officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Traffic Safety Board, along with the members of the Troop B Forensic Identification Unit.
The Adirondack Regional Airport is about an hour from Plattsburgh and offers daily commercial flights to Boston.
