Four Israeli Jews stabbed, wounded in ‘terror attack’
Earlier on Saturday, Israeli security forces shut down a local Palestinian radio station in the occupied West Bank town of Hebron, El-Halil Radio, the station’s manager and the Israeli army said.
Israeli forces also confiscated equipment and caused property damage.
The Israeli army has intensified its activities in the Hebron region this month following a sharp rise in attacks against Israelis in the area.
As Palestinian fire fighters approached the scene to extinguish the fire, Israeli forces opened fire on them, hitting and injuring a fire fighter with a rubber-coated steel bullet in the leg.
Analysts said it was a concerning new trend as the perpetrator had a permit to work in Israel, was married with five children and had no previous criminal record. She is listed in moderate-to-serious condition with an abdominal stab wound.
The official said it was not Kerry’s intention to try to urge the sides to resume peace talks on a two-state solution.
“A Palestinian man at Kfar Adumim junction in a Palestinian taxi tried to run over civilians”, a statement said.
The violence has Israelis on edge, and several politicians have urged licensed gun owners to carry their weapons.
He said “citizens must be on maximum alert”.
“I must say that we are showing such awareness, with considerable resourcefulness and courage, and this is deserving of all praise”.
“This is not terrorism by organisations”, he said at the start of a cabinet meeting.
Two males and two females were wounded in the Kiryat Gat stabbing attack.
Three Israelis, an American and a Palestinian (who may or may not have been the attacker) were all killed in the deadliest day since an 1 October upsurge in violence began.
The latest wave of tensions was triggered by Israel’s imposition in August of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
