Four killed in Pakistan blast
At least seven people including a district council and two union council candidates have been killed and several others injured in a blast at camp office of MNA Amjad Farooq Khosa in Taunsa Sharif Tehsil of Dera Ghazi Khan district today (Wednesday).
MNA Sardar Amjad Khan Khosa was not present at his election office at the time of blast.
District police officer Mubashir Maikan also confirmed the attack and casualties.
The blast, which took place days ahead of Muharram, could be heard two kms away.
Talking to media, Sardar Amjad Farooq Khosa told that he had arrived in Islamabad last night.
A large contingent of police and security personnel, including the Bomb Disposal Squad, reached the site.
Condemning the attack as an act of cowardice, the MNA pointed out that he did not receive any threat or alert prior to the blast. Security officials say majority of the Taliban leaders have crossed into Afghanistan and now operate from there.
Punjab Governor Rafiq Rajwana and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif condemned the attack and expressed grief over the loss of lives in the blast.
The bombing comes months after PML-N lawmaker, Punjab home minister Colonel (retd) Shuja Khanzada, was martyred in a suicide attack on his political office in his native Shadi Khan village in Attock.
This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
