Four Major Generals including DG ISPR Asim Bajwa elevated as Lt General
The terrorists were involved in the killing of Major General Sanaullah, General Officer Commanding for Malakand division and Lieutenant Colonel Tauseef Ahmed during an attack on the military convoy in Swat.
Further, Lt Gen Ikramul Haq was posted as Gujranwala corps commander, Lt Gen Malik Zafar Iqbal as Rawalpindi corps commander, Lt Gen Sadiq Ali as Lahore corps commanderand Lt Gen Umar Farooq Durrani as Mangla corps commander.
The Ministry of Defence and General Headquarters have issued notifications for these appointments.
While Major General Durrani is serving as Vice Chief of Major General Sadiq and General Staff is General Officer controlling Bahawalpur.
Under Bajwa’s leadership, the army conducted military operations in the South Waziristan tribal region to eliminate militancy and restore peace.Prior to that, Bajwa had served as the deputy military secretary under Pervez Musharraf and headed the 111 brigade.
Director General Asim Bhajwa was also promoted to Lieutenant General and became first DG ISPR with a rank of Lieutenant General.
“Lt-Gen. Hilal Hussain has been posted as commander Army Strategic Force Command and Lt-Gen Aamir Riaz as commander Southern Command”, the ISPR added.
