Four rescued from burning boat
The mother, child, and two other family members were aboard the burning yacht were all rescued and taken in for medical care.
The Coast Guard and some Good Samaritans rescued four people when their boat caught fire Saturday off the South Galveston Jetty in Texas.
“I appeared to be screaming, ‘throw kids, toss your kid!'” Michael Marquez remembered Saturday evening’s traumatic help off the beach of Galveston to actually KHOU.
Seaman Jason Hall, a crewman with the Coast Guard who was amongst those dispatched to assist the distressed ship and its crew, said in a statement that it’s “nice to see that there are good people that are willing to help”. The vessel was completely engulfed in flames.
“They finally got the kid in the water and the mom jumped shortly after him”, Marquez said. Throw the kid!’
‘We got those two aboard my boat, ‘ Marquez told KHOU. According to Joseph Lovell of the U.S. Coast Guard, the yacht was already in flames and sinking before rescue arrived.
The men in the boat jumped thereafter and were picked up by a U.S. Coast Guard vessel.
Four people were saved by a passing boater after their yacht erupted in flames off the coast of Texas on Saturday, the Coast Guard said.
Those rescued – three adults and a six-year-old boy – were pulled to safety before the yacht sunk to its watery grave in the waters near Galveston, Texas.
