FOX News Radio: Disney World Removes Confederate Flag From Epcot | News
A day after Disney’s Hollywood Studios removed a Bill Cosby statue, Disney’s Epcot has removed a Confederate flag that was hanging at the theme park’s American Adventure theater.
Another place is taking down their Confederate banner.
The American Adventure features animatronics figures of past presidents and statesmen, such as abolitionists Frederick Douglass, who talk about moments in USA history, including slavery.
The quiet removal comes as South Carolina’s House of Representatives voted Thursday for the Confederate battle flag to come down from Capitol grounds after white supremacist Dylann Roof gunned down nine black churchgoers on June 17. The flag exhibit features more than 40 flags that are part of the United States history.
Many view the symbol as a sign of racism while other’s claim it is a sign of southern pride. That flag stood as the Confederacy’s final official national flag.
One tourist from Connecticut said that Disney did the right thing by removing the controversial Southern symbol.
It “acknowledged” to the Sentinel that the flag was taken down recently but “would not comment further”, the paper reported Wednesday.
