Fox Orders Full Season of ‘Rosewood’
Fox has upped its “Rosewood” order from 13 episodes to a full season of 22, solidifying a consistent Wednesday night through the fall and winter.
The series “had flown largely under the radar, getting a fraction of the marketing budgets of high-profile new Fox entries like “Scream Queens, ‘ “Minority Report” and starring comedy vehicles “Grandfathered” and “The Grinder, ‘” Deadline reports”.
The medical drama follows Chestnut’s Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, a charismatic private pathologist. Despite being constantly surrounded by death, Rosewood is obsessed with life and savors every moment.
Lorraine Toussaint plays Rosewood’s mother; and Nicole Ari Parker his girlfriend. In addition, Taye Diggs will guest-star in a recurring role beginning in November.
The project hails from Todd Harthan, whose past TV credits include “Psych” and “Dominion”. Per FOX, once viewers who streamed Rosewood on Hulu, On Demand, and FOX NOW were factored in, the show’s average audience for its first two telecasts grew to 9.1 million across platforms. Though the show has seen declines since its debut, its numbers are still decent compared to the competition, and they’re an improvement on what Fox averaged a year ago in the 8 p.m. Wednesday slot with “Hell’s Kitchen”.
“‘Rosewood” has proven to be a real self-starter for us, which is a tremendous feat on this highly competitive night”, David Madden, president, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, said. Todd Harthan, Morris, Jaina, Lorraine and the entire cast and crew have done a fantastic job creating a gorgeous, sexy world that is the flawless complement to Empire … The series was created by Harthan. Richard Shepard served as director and executive producer on the pilot.
