Fox’s Lou Dobbs: Ryan Should Resign as Speaker
“I hope you appreciate that I’m doing what I think is best for you, the members, not what’s best for me”.
The new GOP plan would dismantle ObamaCare’s Medicaid expansion and eliminate the individual mandate requiring people to purchase insurance or pay a fine to the government. It’s not based on your income and whether you may need it based on your income, but based on your age and what the price might be based on your age.
The Joint Committee on Taxation estimates that repealing the Affordable Care Act’s taxes would cost roughly $600 billion through 2026 and almost $700 billion through 2027. Ten million dollars could supplement a lot of health care costs for thousands of Americans.
Ryan and fellow House Republican leaders have stated that the legislation can not please every GOP lawmaker because it must conform with the reconciliation process so as to avoid a Senate filibuster.
The House speaker also said on the call that Trump’s vulgar comments, which were captured prior to a 2005 appearance on “Access Hollywood”, do not fit the GOP’s “principles and values”.
Ryan, who followed through on his promise not to campaign alongside Trump, went on to say he would not help his rival Clinton ascend to the White House.
“We promised that we would repeal and replace Obamacare with a patient-centered health care system that reduces costs and we’re one step closer to keeping our promise”, Black said.
“Trumpcare would be a nightmare for the American people”, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY said at a news conference at the Capitol with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California. Universal coverage is not the Republican’s goal.
John Oliver attempted to provide his viewers with a better understanding of GOP’s Obamacare replacement plan Sunday night, breaking down why it’s great for Paul Ryan’s “erection”, but awful for poor Americans.
INSKEEP: Is this true, that people are going to be assured of better, cheaper plans so they won’t need as much subsidies?
“What people want is to get care”.
The Chicago seniors group, heading to Wisconsin on a bus, say “Ryancare” is a sham. Before the ACA went into effect, a rough estimate of the price to maintain a high-risk pool to the federal government was roughly $178 billion per year – almost twice as much annually as Ryan proposes spending in a decade. But that’s not the kind of thing Republicans talk about – if anything, they’re in favor of tax avoidance, hence the Trump proposal to slash funding for the IRS. He’s saying that when they do, it will only be because they chose to go without it, once they were led into the glorious light of liberty.
