Fox’s ‘Scream Queens’ Gets Much-Needed Boost With Delayed Viewing
Tuesday’s “Scream Queens” also features guest appearances from Charisma Carpenter and Roger Bart, who respectively play Mrs. Herfmann and Dr. Herfmann.
Scream Queens showrunner Ryan Murphy has weighed in on his new show’s disappointing premiere ratings. It leap-frogged three shows on the competition that it had lagged in same-night numbers: ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat,”CBS’ “Limitless” and NBC’s “Best Time Ever With Neil Patrick Harris”.
For the night, CBS added +3.19m viewers (16.75m from 13.56m, +24%), +1.0 in adults 25-54 (4.0 from 3.0, +33%) and +0.9 in adults 18-49 (2.9 from 2.0, +45%).
Now, according to the story, when the live plus 3-day ratings came in they showed that the episode received “an 80% lift, to a new total of 7.3 million across all platforms, including Fox Now and Hulu”.
One of the deciding factors seems to have been the Live+3 performance of “Scream Queens“, the Fox horror-movie satire series that must have had Fox execs screaming in horror when they first got a look at the frighteningly low overnight ratings this show scored in its two-hour premiere last Tuesday night. (Another 2 million watched the Thursday encore telecast).
These are the numbers that measure a TV show’s additional viewership via other platforms and methods in the three days following their first airing – including viewing on network Web sites, Hulu and the like, plus on-demand, DVR-recording and, in some cases, replays two days later on the same network. The new CBS drama “Limitless” saw its audience increase by 3.5 million viewers to 13.37 million.
Among returning series on Tuesday, CBS’ “NCIS” saw the biggest rise in both 18-49 rating (0.9) and total viewers, rising by more than 3 million in the latter to 21.47 million. CBS posted the top lift in both viewers and adults 25-54 Tuesday night.
Fox isn’t the only network benefitting from delayed viewing. The Voice (NBC)… 4.16… 3.49…
