Foxes yet to trigger Gray clause
Leicester City have triggered the £4.7million release clause for Arsenal target Demarai Gray from Birmingham City, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The Foxes were interested in the 19-year-old and made a move for the winger but Press Association Sport understands it is unlikely to happen.
He said: “I don’t speak about speculation, only when a player arrives”.
Also in the race for the Demarai Gray’s signature was Premier League new-boys AFC Bournemouth.
Gray scored a screamer against Leicester during preseason, now he could be lining up for Birmingham’s Midlands rivals. The 19-year old brings with him sky high potential and an odds on ability to become one of the best players to have ever played for Leicester City.
Indeed the youngster only signed a new three year deal just six weeks ago and while there probably is a release clause, it would seem odd for the figure to be lower than the £5m they turned down earlier this year.
Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has previously stated that the young Englishman would only leave the club for a chance at playing in Europe.
Gray has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in the Football League and attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Bournemouth, but Leicester are believed to have offered the £4.7m fee that would trigger a deal for the winger.
