Franco Baldini leaves Tottenham Hotspur
Baldini has been with Tottenham for over two years in the role of technical director.
Baldini joined Spurs in 2013 following the transfer of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for a world-record £85million.
Now the Italian, who worked alongside long-time friend Fabio Capello with England, is exiting the north London club.
It is fair to say Baldini’s £110.5m supermarket sweep was not universally successful.
Spurs have got a lot wrong in the transfer market since Baldini’s arrival in 2013 and his time at the club has now come to an end.
The likes of Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Christian Eriksen and Vlad Chiriches were signed on his watch. “We wish him all the best for the future”, a statement read on the club’s official website.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs will look to bring in a replacement for Baldini as boss Mauricio Pochettino is classed as a head coach rather than a manager. The Argentinian guided the club to a fifth place finish in his first full season in charge, and following the 4-1 win over Manchester City they occupy an identical position after seven games of the new campaign.
