Free calling for BSNL users
This move will then enable BSNL mobile subscribers to avail free calling benefits offered on their landline phone.
Briefing more about the synchronize plans, Anupam Shrivastava, BSNL chairman and MD said that from Diwali onwards, the company would be rolling out its process of fix mobile convergence and by this convergence all the BSNL users would be benefited with the free night calls from their Smartphones.
Adding further on to the announcement, with this platform being set to roll out soon, we can expect mobile phone subscribers being able to make free night calls from their mobile phones. However, to avail this service, the customers should also have a fixed line connection.
It is also known that users can link their mobile and landline accounts.
BSNL has invested over Rs four hundred crores to modernize its landlines.
“The sync between the 2 accounts can be such that it’ll allow our subscribers obtain their landline calls on mobile telephones”, Shrivastava stated.
BSNL, once a market leader and key player in Telecom industry has now slipped to 6th position on subscriber base parameter in April. BSNL’s total subscriber base was around 78 million as of August ’15. On the other hand, the network provider was in the top 5 among mobile operators in terms of monthly user additions. “We have already turned gainer for mobile subscribers under mobile number portability scheme”, Shrivastava said.
The firm has launched free roaming scheme which allows its subscribers to attend free incoming calls whereas travelling anyplace within the nation at no additional value.
“Free roaming scheme has turned out to be one of many main progress drivers for uptake in mobile subscriber quantity”, Shrivastava added. Shrivastava says this has been implemented since a large number of its landline consumers still pay their bills offline. The counters are open for the limited time and between peak office hours i.E. 10 am – 2 pm. It will install ATM at our premise which will also accept cash.
The Hitachi ATMs are to be rolled out in small cities by March 2016. BSNL will get a revenue share from each transaction made on these machines.
BSNL is probably world’s worst public sector telecom company. It is incapable of even repairing faulty landline connections. It sometimes takes 18 months to do so. I am particularly talking about BSNL Jharkhand.
BSNL must be privatized.
