Free donuts at Krispy Kreme for Talk Like a Pirate Day

It was my buddy Chris West who first clued me in to the marking of September 19th as global Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Halloween is still more than a month out, but tomorrow will tell if the promise of free food lures consumers into costume garb ahead of the season. All you have to do is dress like a pirate and 12 glazed are yours in honor of National Talk Like a Pirate Day, Saturday, September 19, at Krispy Kreme in Middleburg Hts. If you show up in full pirate attire, you’ll get a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for free!

According to Zacks, “Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc.is a leading branded specialty retailer of premium quality doughnuts which are made throughout the day in our stores”.

People around the world have been getting their Pirate-speak on since 1995. Dress like a pirate and you get a fish or chicken basket. All the while, I had assumed that we were pretty much the only ones for whom this was enjoyable.

To emphasize the positive, another term that is handy is “Arrr!” but you really need to be able to roll your R’s for that one.

Are you unsure how to talk like a pirate? Yes, today is a day to wake up your inner pirate and celebrate a day dedicated to the many adventurers who sailed the high seas in search of loot treasures.

For pirate fashion, a few suggestions include an eye patch (available at any drugstore) along with a pirate hat featuring a skull and crossbones flag.
