Freed Gitmo Prisoners Back on Battlefield – ‘Terrible’
Well, 31 minutes before his tweet, the “Fox and Friends” morning show tweeted: “Former Gitmo detainee killed by a USA airstrike in Yemen; at least 122 former Gitmo detainees have re-engaged in terrorism”.
That’s true. But Trump took the extra step of assigning all of those releases to Obama. “But it speaks to why we need an independent non-partisan investigation that will look into not just this allegation but the ties that President Trump and members of the Trump campaign had with Russian Federation and the threat that that posed and how they were involved or not involved into hacking into our election system”. The next day, as baffled Republicans ran for cover, an increasingly besieged Trump was reportedly infuriated because “few Republicans were defending him on the Sunday political talk shows”.
According to the DNI, 113 of the former detainees released under the Bush administration are “confirmed” to have reengaged in militant activity while just eight transferred under the Obama administration have returned to terrorism.
It’s unclear what prompted Trump’s outburst Tuesday.
So far Trump has not responded to the flagged tweets. I think he likes me.
How Trump consumes cable news can also be on display in public appearances, as at a Florida rally February 18 when he said, “you look at what’s happening last night in Sweden”.
“I hope it’s a wake-up call”, Kilmeade added of reports that Trump has yelled at his staff.
These are the words of someone with a preoccupation.
That doesn’t come as a surprise.
Meanwhile, Obama released 161 detainees, and only nine were confirmed to have returned to terrorism. Anyway, Obama was never serious about working to help Trump. President Trump has insisted he will not only keep the facility open but begin sending more detainees there, despite the legal battles this will cause. During the election season, Trump tried to convince voters that Obama was “the founder of ISIS”.
Mr Trump did not cite where he obtained the statistic in his latest controversial tweet.
At a certain level, I can understand the fixation.
But to some, “Deep State” has an far more insidious meaning than just government bureaucrats and Obama appointees still working in Washington.
