Freezer bearing mom’s body sold at yard sale: Arrest made
A woman Goldsboro police were looking for in connection to a body found in a freezer was arrested and taken into custody on Thursday. Lee said the church would come and collect the items inside, but they never showed. The buyer opened the freezer weeks later and found the remains.
Police in Goldsboro, North Carolina, in the U.S., said 56-year-old Marcella Jean Lee was arrested on Thursday in Carolina Beach, 100 miles away from the town. A police statement said she’d been sought for months on a felony charge of failure to report a death.
Ms Roush, who was Marcella Lee’s mother, had not died by foul play, an autopsy later revealed.
Police said that the neighbour was also told that the contents of the freezer, which was taped shut, would be collected by Ms Lee’s friends.
Told the neighbor via WRAL: ‘She sold me her frozen mother for $30. Officials are investigating how Roush’s body got into the freezer and if any other crimes have occurred since her death. She is being held under a $50,000 secured bond. She is being transported to Wayne County for her first appearance on September 19.
