Freezing rain, ice forecast in Oklahoma, Kansas
Authorities in Kansas are blaming four more traffic deaths in the Wichita area on the icy conditions gripping the state and other parts of the nation’s midsection.

Another three deaths are blamed on flash flooding in Texas, where one person is missing. Rain will transition to freezing rain and sleet overnight.
An ice storm is continuing to coat central and western Oklahoma with more freezing rain that will continue until noon Saturday, the National Weather Service reports. Above freezing temperatures will return on Saturday afternoon, however, moisture from Hurricane Sandra will still be in the area bringing in the rain through Sunday.

A few storms may become strong and produce heavy rain before 10 p.m. Then, the focus turns to the threat of winter weather. The combination of ice and gusty north winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour likely will result in some downed tree limbs and power lines. There is a chance for additional scattered showers tomorrow with highs near 40.
