French teacher attacked by man claiming Islamic State link
French anti-terrorism authorities are investigating an attack Monday on a pre-school teacher in a Paris suburb by a masked assailant with a box-cutter and scissors who mentioned the Islamic State group.
According to local prosecutors the man shouted: “This is Daesh”.
Police sources told the broadcaster the teacher was stabbed in the side and in the throat.
According to the authorities, the male victim was stabbed several times while preparing for classes by a hooded man with a knife or box-cutter in the French city of Aubervilliers.
Daesh is another name for IS.
The attacker, who is still on the run, is said to have been wearing painter’s overalls, gloves and a balaclava.
As well as declaring he was from Islamic State, the teacher also claims the attacker said “This is a warning”. No school children are believed to have been at the scene when the attack occurred.
The attack comes as Paris is on high alert after a wave of shootings and suicide bombings at Paris nightspots on November 13 that killed 130 people and left 350 injured.
Fortunately, the teacher did not suffer life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition in a hospital.
